International Conference “SUSTAINABLE MOUNTAIN REGIONS: MAKE THEM WORK”, which will be held on 14-16 May 2015 in the Rila Mountain resort of Borovets, Bulgaria.

The conference is organized and sponsored by the Center of Excellence in the Humanities "Alma Mater" at Sofia University „St. Kliment Ohridski” funded by the National Scientific Research Fund.

*Please note that your abstract submission implies that at least one of the authors must attend the conference and present the paper.

Review Process

Submissions should be relevant to the overall conference theme and address at least one of the conference topics. All contributions must be original (i.e. not published elsewhere), and follow academic writing style. Submitted abstracts and full papers will be blind-reviewed by at least two anonymous reviewers. Acceptance of an abstract does not automatically lead to acceptance of the respective full paper for publication. The author(s) will be provided with specific guidelines for submission of a full paper.

Conference Proceedings & Publication Opportunities*

Selected papers will be included in an edited international edition to be published after the conference. Springer expressed preliminary interest in publishing a book resulting from the conference.

All other accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings with an ISBN number in electronic form, which will be available for distribution during the event. Each registered delegate will receive an electronic copy of the conference proceedings.

*Please note that papers will only be published if at least one of the authors attends the Conference.

Conference Working Language

All papers and presentations will be in English.

Conference Venue & Location

The conference will be held in Borovets Resort which is the first mountain resort in Bulgaria, dating back to the beginning of the 20th c. It is situated just 70 km from the capital city of Sofia at altitude of 1 350 m in Rila - the highest mountain on the Balkan Peninsula (2 925 m). Free transfer from Sofia Airport to Borovets and back will be provided for conference participants upon sending detailed information about arrival and departure in the registration form.

The event will be hosted by Samokov Hotel (http://www.samokov.com) where all the conference sessions will take place and the participants’ accommodation will be arranged at special price.

Conference Fees

110 EUR - standard conference fee per participant

55 EUR - reduced conference fee for students and doctoral students

The conference fee above excludes bank commission. In case of cancellation, the registration fee is not refunded.

The conference fee includes:

-          Transfer from/to Sofia airport

-          Conference materials, including the proceedings in electronic form (USB flash stick)

-          Coffee breaks refreshments

-          Lunch for 2 days and gala dinner
